Happiness Is Not Something You Wait For
It is your birthright — starting exactly where you are, exactly as you are, today.
Most of us have made a quiet agreement with life without even realizing it.
We tell ourselves: I will be happy after. After the promotion. After the weight comes off. After the relationship heals. After things finally slow down. After life stops feeling so hard.
For years, I made that same agreement. And maybe you have too.
You work hard. You take care of everyone around you. You keep reaching toward the next goal, trusting that once you get there, something will shift — life will finally feel lighter, easier, more like yours. But somehow, the finish line keeps moving. The achievement arrives, and the peace doesn't stay. The success lands, and fulfillment is still just out of reach.
What if happiness was never waiting at the finish line — because it was always meant to walk with you on the path?
"The purpose of our lives is to be happy." — Dalai Lama
You Are Not Behind. You Are Becoming.
You are not lacking ambition, heart, or desire. You are simply carrying a great deal — and you have been doing it for a long time.
Many of us drift into a rhythm of giving everything to everyone, and very little to ourselves. We stay busy because busyness feels productive. We push forward because pausing feels unfamiliar. And slowly, without meaning to, we forget to tend to the one person who makes everything else possible: you.
Happiness is not a reward you earn when the to-do list is done. It is a practice. A daily choice. A way of moving through life with intention.
"Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day." — Henri Nouwen
The Chapters That Taught Me Everything
Life has its own way of redirecting us toward what truly matters.
My journey began when I left everything familiar and started over in a new country — hopeful, brave, and wide open to life. That leap taught me courage I did not know I had.
Then came divorce, which asked me to look inward and rediscover who I was apart from who I had been. It was one of the most clarifying seasons of my life.
Then came cancer — a word that stops time. During the days of active treatment, one question became my anchor: What makes me happy right here, right now?
And then, a near-miss car accident on a highway, a tire burst made the car spun 360 degrees - I turned too, as I was watching myself dying, instead of fear, I felt a complete and quiet surrender. Then the car landed gently on the median still and safe. A burst of pure joy flooded in, I realize how precious this ordinary, beautiful, wild life truly is. In that moment, I made a promise to myself: to live every single day with love and joy on purpose.
"Life does not guarantee tomorrow; you only have now."
- Wayne Dyer
Each chapter delivered the same gift: the gift of now. Waking up each morning is a blessing worth celebrating. Getting older is a privilege. Even brushing your teeth, drinking your water, feeling the ground under your feet — these are not small things. These are life, in its most honest and beautiful form.
Those chapters did not teach me to be perfect. They taught me to stop postponing joy.
"Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present." — Jim Rohn
Real Transformation Begins Within
Here is what I know with every part of me: transformation does not begin with changing yourself. It begins with understanding yourself.
You do not need to become someone else. You need to come home to who you already are.
When you start listening to your body, trusting your own wisdom, and taking small intentional steps each day, something remarkable unfolds. Your energy returns. Your confidence grows. Your relationships deepen. Your sense of purpose becomes clear. And happiness stops feeling like a distant destination — it becomes the way you live.
This is what it means to Be Happy On Purpose: not a forced smile, not a performance — but a conscious, courageous choice to tend to your own wholeness, every single day.
"Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions."
— Dalai Lama
Three Ways to Begin — Right Now
1, Choose one loving habit
What will truly make you happier right now? Is it drinking a glass of lemon water? Or Take a walk, eat something that truly nourishes you? One small act of self-care — is foundation of everything that follows.
2, Notice what empowers you.
Your believes, habits, patterns, or relationships — simply notice how does it empower you and how does that make you feel?
3, Questions to ask
"What are you truly happy about in your life right now? or What are you truly greatful for? How does that make you feel? " Sit with it. Then trust the answer that rises — even if it surprises you.
You are loved
You do not need to wait until life is perfect. You do not need a dramatic turning point to remind you that your health, your happiness, and your dreams are worth showing up for today.
You can begin right now. With one choice. One habit. One quiet act of love toward yourself.
A meaningful, joyful life is not something that happens to you when the conditions are finally right. It is something you create — on purpose, with intention, one beautiful day at a time.
Happiness is not something you earn. It is your birthright. And it is waiting for you to claim it — right now.
With so much love,
Lisa
